Bunbury, attractions and places to go.

The Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury was opened in 1994 and was the first Dolphin Centre in Australia dedicated entirely to dolphin research and their habits. There is a large pod of Bottlenose dolphins that often visit Koombana bay and because of the sheltered waters, allows interaction with these marine creatures. The Dolphin Discovery Centre can be seen from your balcony and is less that a 10 minute walk along the beach. During wintertime, the Humpback whales migrate past Bunbury on their way to the Antarctic Circle.

The City of Bunbury is located approximately 160 kilometres south of Perth and is less than a 90 minute drive on the new Bunbury Forrest Highway. The greater Bunbury region has an approximate population of 85,000 people and is growing fast. Bunbury is an ideal place to make your base from, as most of the regions attractions are within easy reach. There are excellent beaches and the sheltered waters of Koombana Bay beaches, with its marina, yachting and Boat ramps.

Diving Wreck: The wreck of the 'Lina ship' just of Bunbury, makes for excellent diving. Known as the Lena Dive Wreck and us located about 3 miles / 5 kilometers off the Bunbury Coastline. The Lena is one of WA's most accessible dive wreck which was sunk by explosives in December 2003. The wreck offers a unique diving experience for divers of all level The boat was initially apprehended by the Australian Navy while illegally fishing for the Patagonian Tooth-fish in Australian waters.

There is also a large dedicated Art Gallery in the centre of Bunbury plus a vibrant cosmopolitan cappuccino strip and a large 6 screen Cinema complex. Bunbury is also home to 2 world class golf courses.

Bunbury is also a major West Australian seaport with 2 harbours. The newer Inner harbour and the older Outer harbour and many huge ships and carriers can be seen entering the Inner and Outer Harbour carrying Mineral Sands and Alumina powder. Large passenger cruise ships are now making Bunbury their port of call.

Big Swamp Wildlife Park is located on Prince Phillip Drive in Bunbury and is only five minutes drive away from the central business district; the big swamp wildlife park as over 60 species of Australia birds (some can be hand fed) and marsupials. The park is next to a children's playground and makes a great family outing.

Bunbury is the gateway to the South West of WA and all of its attractions
are less that a couple of hours drive away.

Bunbury Climate: Bunbury is usually 4-5 degrees cooler
than Perth, with hot Summers (40 degrees) and cool,
wet Winters. (can drop to 4 degrees)

Employment: Bunbury is surrounded by major industries that have had and still do, make a major impact on the regions economy. Amongst these are Worsley alumina, Cable Sands, Iluka resources, Giacci trucks, Millennium Chemicals and Barrack Steel.
